Ukulele Livestream Request: “Let’s Talk Dirty in Hawaiian”

One of my favorite parts of livestreaming with the ukulele is never really knowing what’s coming next. During a recent stream, someone in chat requested “Let’s Talk Dirty in Hawaiian” by John Prine—a song I hadn’t planned on playing, but definitely couldn’t resist trying.

I pulled it up, checked out the chords, and realized it actually sits really nicely on the uke. Simple progression, fun lyrics, and that easygoing John Prine feel that just works in a live setting. Before long, I was strumming through it while chat watched it all unfold in real time.

Moments like that are why I love doing these streams. It’s not about perfection; it’s about hanging out, trying songs together, and seeing what happens when someone tosses a curveball into the setlist.

If you missed it live, this highlight clip captures the whole vibe—spontaneous, relaxed, and a little bit goofy in the best way.

You Don't Need to Sing Well to Have Fun Playing Ukulele!

Hey everyone, welcome back to G's Ukulele!

If you've ever picked up a ukulele but hesitated because you're worried about your singing voice, this one's for you. The truth is: you don't need to sing well to have fun playing ukulele!

Check out this quick little video I just posted:

In the clip, I'm strumming away and belting out some silly lyrics (with a few "cha cha cha"s thrown in for good measure). It's not about hitting every note perfectly—it's about the pure joy of making music, feeling the rhythm, and letting loose!

Ukulele is one of the most forgiving and fun instruments out there. Here's why singing (or not singing perfectly) shouldn't hold you back:

  • The uke's bright, cheerful sound makes everything feel happy—even if your voice is a little off-key.
  • Strumming is the star—you can focus on chords and rhythm first, and add vocals whenever you're ready.
  • No pressure—jam with friends, play for yourself, or just noodle around. The fun comes from playing, not perfection.

Whether you're a total beginner or you've been strumming for years, remember: the ukulele is about good vibes, not Grammy-level vocals. So grab your uke, pick a simple song (or make one up!), and just go for it.

What's your favorite "no-sing-well-needed" ukulele jam? Drop it in the comments—I'd love to hear!

Keep strumming, keep smiling, and keep having fun!

Aloha,

G

Impromptu Ukulele Jam: Making Up a "Misty Blue" Song on the Spot!

Hey everyone, G here from G's Ukulele! 🌺

Sometimes the best musical moments happen when you least expect them—just you, your trusty uke, and whatever melody pops into your head. Last evening, I was just chilling with my soprano ukulele, feeling a bit nostalgic, and decided to make up a little song right there on the spot. The result? A quick, heartfelt, bluesy tune inspired by the classic "Misty Blue" vibe.

Check out the short video here:  Do you like ukuleles, let's make up a song!

Here are the lyrics that came flowing out (roughly – it was all improv!):

> Paint a picture of my love for you

> Make it sad and make it blue

> That describes my love for you, Misty, Misty, Misty Blue

>

> For you left me all alone

> I no money to call my own

> Misty, misty, misty blue

>

> I plant my love, my love for you more eternally

> I am yours. So hold true...

> (and it kinda trails off into the feels 😅)

It's simple, a little sad, a little sweet—perfect for those quiet evenings when you just want to strum away your thoughts.

The best part about ukulele? You don't need a perfect plan or a full song structure. Grab your uke, pick a mood (maybe a little blue today?), and let your fingers and heart do the talking. Who knows—you might create your next favorite tune!

Have you ever made up a song on the spot with your ukulele? Drop your stories (or even a quick recording) in the comments below—I'd love to hear them!

Keep strumming, stay inspired, and see you in the next one 🎶

Aloha,
